Source Water Apportionment Using Stable Isotopes for Typical Riparian Plants along the Manas River in Xinjiang, Northwest China

چکیده

Clarifying the water uptake patterns and competition among riparian plants under different ecological conveyance conditions is crucial for stability of ecosystem in arid areas. Here, we have utilized Bayesian isotope mixing model to quantify plant sources two typical (Tamarix ramosissima Phragmites australis) along Manas River Xinjiang, Northwest China. The relationship between these evaluated using proportional similarity index (PSI). Our findings demonstrated following: (1) climate study area dry strongly evaporative, slope intercept local meteoric line are smaller than global line. interconversion surface groundwater occurred mainly upper reaches river. (2) At sample site with long-term conveyance, pattern predominantly shallow soil or uniform use potential sources. Among them, utilization rate reached 30.7 ± 12.6%. sites intermittent non-ecological site, growth T. P. australis primarily uses deep groundwater, mean values 34.5 5.1% 32.2 1.9%, respectively. (3) at was more intense. However, effectively reduced plants. results will provide basic theoretical support maintaining determining environmental flows.

Divergence of stable isotopes in tap water across China

Stable isotopes in water (e.g., δ2H and δ18O) are important indicators of hydrological and ecological patterns and processes. Tap water can reflect integrated features of regional hydrological processes and human activities. China is a large country with significant meteorological and geographical variations. This report presents the first national-scale survey of Stable Isotopes in Tap Water (...
